The currrent President of IAVE, Liz Burns, was the founding member of staff at Volunteer Development Scotland in 1984. She became Director of Volunteer Development Scotland in 1988 and retired in 2001 to take up her position as the current President

Volunteer Development Scotland are members of IAVE and staff from Volunteer Development Scotland and the Volunteer Centre Network in Scotland, have regularly contributed to the Biennial World Volunteering Conferences throughout the world over a number of years

Our connections with the European Volunteer Centre go back several years through the work of  Liz Burns, a past President of CEV. Volunteer Development Scotland formally joined the Centre in 1996

Currently, Volunteer Development Scotland's Policy Manager, Norrie Murray, is a member of the CEV Board of Directors and members of staff from Volunteer Development Scotland contribute on a regular basis to a variety of conferences, seminars and projects at a European level.
