Who We Are

Who We Are

We work in partnership with a wide a range of organisations to advance the boundaries of volunteering, increasing accessibility, scope, understanding the value of volunteering to all involved.

With extensive networks and an evidence based approach, we influence policy and strategy whilst advocating quality standards and best practice in all aspects of volunteering in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

What We Do
  • The Central Registered Body in Scotland -  we provide the essential service of free disclosures for volunteers in the voluntary sector as well as an extension of our services to the public and private sector.
  • Research and Evaluation - through a dedicated research, evaluation and policy function, we develop knowledge and understanding of volunteering which is relevant to researchers and policy makers
  • Learning and Practice Development - we offer a variety of effective training and development pathways in volunteers management, underpinned by a comprehensive theory base and aligned with relevant quality standards
  • Policy and Strategy - We aim to influence a wide range of policy makers in order to help create a positive environment for volunteer development.
  • Volunteer Centre & Local Partnerships - The services provided by the Volunteer Centre (VC) and local partnerships team aims primarily to build the capacity of the Volunteer Centre Network in Scotland.  We do this in a variety of ways including information provision to the network, managing the networks intranet, Volunteer Scotland website and distributing Scottish Government grants.
