At the end of 2005 the
Scottish Executive Department for Health asked Volunteer Development Scotland to consult with stakeholders and make proposals and recommendations on how best to take forward volunteering in the NHS in Scotland and to update previous department guidance on volunteering issued in 1998 and 2000. Refreshed Strategy for Volunteering in NHS Scotland
An independent consultancy firm was commissioned by Volunteer Development Scotland to gather views and evidence from stakeholders. They consulted with senior NHS managers and with NHS Voluntary Services Managers - see Annex 1. It also consulted with Volunteer Centres (Annex 2) Voluntary Organisations involved in NHS/health (Annex 3) and with people who volunteered in the NHS (Annex 4)
